Cheyenne Mountain PCA - About Us
Cheyenne Mountain Presbyterian Church was planted in 1996 by Village Seven Presbyterian Church. Originally named Christ Covenant Church, the church began under the leadership of Pastor Robert Stewart and held their first services at the Broadmoor Elementary School.
In May 2001, the church purchased 5.96 acres of land on West Meadow Drive near the intersection of Highway 115 and Academy Boulevard, across from Fort Carson. This tremendous blessing came after three years of searching and making various offers on parcels of land. During this time members remained faithful as they met in schools and hotels until early 2002. In January of 2002, the members voted to change the name from Christ Covenant Church to Cheyenne Mountain Presbyterian Church in America. There was a sense that this change would better reflect who we are and who we seek to serve. Soon after the church was able to begin meeting at the Stratmoor Hills United Methodist Church on Cheyenne Meadows Rd.
Dr. Stuart believed to that knowing Christ and his word was the most important quest for the Christian today and he encouraged people to grow in truth and to come to know the God of the Scriptures. Dr. Stuart had a reputation for providing a strong foundation both for Biblical counseling and for theological preaching. In February 2004, the church called its second pastor, Dr. Hugh Davis. As we look to the future we are excited about the possibility of making an impact upon the southern part of Colorado Springs with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We have been challenged as recipients of God's incredible mercy to live out the gospel in various walks of life, bearing witness to the gospel in all that we do.
